A certified Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA) specialises in evaluating the energy efficiency of residential properties. Their role involves compiling reports and suggesting cost-effective methods to enhance energy performance within buildings.
These reports, known as Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs), are necessary during the process of buying or selling or renting residential properties. They are also required before and after a retrofit project takes place.
This course will give you the skills and qualifications to enable you to:
- Survey properties to gather data on aspects like age, number of floors, building structure, and heating/hot water systems.
- Documenting details such as room dimensions, corridors, window sizes, and fireplaces.
- Inputting collected information into specialied computer software.
- Generating Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs).
- Communicating the findings and EPC results to homeowners.
- Offering practical advice and recommendations aimed at reducing costs for homeowners while enhancing energy efficiency.
After qualifying, students will be required to join one of the government-approved accreditation schemes.
Course Delivery:
Held over 5 days. 3 days over 1 week, and a further 2 days over a later week via Teams on-line, led by one of our trainers (Classroom option available upon request, minimum attendee requirement applies). Dates all pre-confirmed. With an assessment to follow, a minimum pass rate is required to gain the qualification.
Course Eligibility Requirements:
You must be 18+ otherwise there are no specific course eligibility requirements. An interest in building, or building industry experience may be advantageous.
Assessment:
Once you have completed the tutor-led learning, you will be required to participate and complete a two-stage assessment. Involving a coursework/portfolio element and passing an externally invigilated exam via an on-line portal to gain your qualification.
